WIP Project #1

After watching our class overview about projection mapping, I’m really interested in learning and trying this medium for Project #1. 

When thinking about what I would like to project onto, my mind naturally went to using a dress, typical considering I’m a costume designer. 

As far as the content goes for the VJ portion of the project, I wanted to have a theme of gender roles.  A dress is a traditionally feminine symbol and I thought it would be cool to contrast the image of a dress with content that is stereotypically masculine whether aggressive, violent, or destructive. 

I believe this juxtaposition would be both fun and unexpected to see projected onto a dress and further communicated by tinting all the video content with “girly” colors like pink or purple.  I think that ultimately the message I would like to

convey is that femininity does not equal weakness, it’s simply one way of experiencing the world even if it’s through “rose colored glasses.”
