For my final WOW project, I’d like to create a digital art piece with the theme of memento mori. Memento mori is a latin phrase which means “remember you will die,” and is typically used as a symbol in art and religion.
I’ve always really liked this saying because I believe that part of living a healthy life is thinking about death. Understanding the impermanence of life encourages me to live it more intentionally with the knowledge that each day isn’t promised.
I think this idea is particularly important in 2020 with the threat of COVID-19 looming everyday. Beyond the present circumstances, I think it is still possible to live a life that is meaningful and worthwhile.
As far as the actual composition goes, my idea is to create an abstract and morphing animation to some experimental music.
I’d like to use procreate to make this animation but I’ve never used procreate before so this may be a little ambitious but I’m willing to try something new for my WOW project.
