For my animation assignment, I chose to draw the entirety of my project using Adobe Animate.
I've always been interested in trying to learn how to use programs such as Adobe Animate so I thought this project would be a good opportunity to start. I knew that the program would be challenging to learn and would take up the majority of my mental space so I chose to keep my storyline simple. I ended up illustrating an average morning in the life of my stick figure Riley. Throughout my composition we see Riley doing everyday tasks such as brushing his teeth and making coffee.
Within these everyday activities, I wanted to showcase Riley's personality through his frantic nature and goofy facial gestures.
Adobe Animate is similar to other Adobe programs in the sense that the use of layers is incredibly important. I found myself drawing on the wrong layers a lot of the time and having to go back and redo steps in order to manipulate the certain elements in the ways I wanted.
This required a lot of patience as animating 10 seconds of content could easily take me an hour and a half if everything was going smoothly. Due to my own personal schedule, I fell short of the time requirement for the assignment but I am really proud of what I was able to pull together in the time that I had.
I'd love to work within the program again but in the future I'd like to dedicate more of my time to watching tutorials in order to get faster and more precise.
